WALL ART

Be lovely if you could have the vases too...this makes such a lovely pic

A good one to remember when you've had a barny!!

I have a friend who has a love of sausage dogs! whilst searching for all things sausage I came across these great wall stickers.

COFFEE and CRAFT, A LITTLE CLOSER TO HOME

The photo below was taken from Yourlocallondon.com

Now there I was complaining that I didn't have local dwellings for cake and tea when my sweet toothed sibling ( he may deny that remark) informs me that Muswell Hill (London) has a wonderful tea room and craft shop next door.
I haven't been able to find many pictures to share with you, but hopefully I will pop along at some point with my sweet toothed mum and taste the delights that they have to offer! It must be a miserable life if you do not have a sweet tooth, looking at all those cakes and not wanting one, how dull :)

Anyway enough rambling from moi, the tea room is called The Emporium ....I'm now going to eat a Mr Kiplings 'Fiendish Fancy' after all that cake talk, well it is almost Halloween!

COFFEE and CRAFTS

I have always been a lover of cake, I think that I have my mum to thank for that, a hereditary sweet tooth and growing up with a mum that baked homemade cakes for her little ones and now her big ones! Well can you imagine my joy when I found this place! CROWN AND CRUMPET, an amazing tea room, which also has goodies to buy! Imagine my sadness when I discovered its in San Francisco, so no popping out for a cuppa and slice of cake unless you have your own plane!
More eye candy than I can cope with, lets hope they open one a little closer by!!

Blog Award....for me!

I haven't posted for a week ( naughty naughty), I felt ashamed so I thought it was time to blog to all my followers (ha ha)!! How delighted was I to find out that I had been given a blog award,
by the lovely Vanessa at Coco Rose Textiles.
This award is given to 'alluring, amusing, inspiring, bewitching and impressive blogs!' I would like to think that I could be one of those things to one person, that would make it all worth while!......and allowing me to mumble on!
Thank you so much for awarding me Vanessa, it really has put a big smile on my face. Just what I needed on a monday evening, when outside is so dark and the winter chill beckons!. Why do we have to change the clocks? To make winter worse!?
Anyway I believe there are rules to these awards, so here goes;

1.Post the award on your blog
2.Nominate up to 9 blogs
3.Let your nominees know they have won
4.Link back to the person who gave it to you
These are a few gems I have found along the way;
I am sure you will enjoy a visit!

Undergrowth Designs

I saw these and wanted to share with you such delights. Check out undergrowth Designs.
If you have a spare £128 you too can have that cake stand!!

Eternal Maker

I'll have one of those sofas please!

This is another company that I came across at the knitting & Stitching show.
They are called 'Eternal Maker', a beautiful craft shop owned by mother and daughter ( much to my disgust they are in chichester, not on my doorstep). They not only have a shop to visit, they also have an online store Eternalmaker . Their shop looks so enticing with all the colourful cloths and jars of buttons and other dreamy bits. They also do classes, so if you are lucky enough to live near by ( jammy gits), I'd have a gander!
These photos are taken from Eternalmakers blog. Wouldn't you love this to be your shop of goodies......ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I can dream!!!

Stranded Cotton

I have been feeling a little blue and unwell for the past week. I've been feeling too poorly to blog and read blogs, so I'm very happy to be back blogging and reading the wonderful blogs I am following. Its so nice to see all the wonderful ideas out there being shared like one big happy blog family!!
I wanted to share with you the company where I purchased my embroidery threads. The site is strandedcotton and they sell DMC thread. they are able to sell it at a reduced price because they wind the thread from large spools and therefore don't have a fancy (unwanted) wrapper around them. The more you buy, the cheaper they work out...more reason to treat yourself to a box full (to look at and admire, rather than use)!
The only problem that I can see is that they post out 1st class :( ........order now if you want them by xmas....next year!

The Knitting and Stitching Show

I went to the show on Saturday with my ma and I can honestly say I have never seen so many women in one place! My oh my you ladies really can push and shove when you want to get something!!
Not only was it full to the brim with ladies inside, it was over run with ladybirds on the outside. I wondered what all the little red dots were on the floor when we were leaving and then sadly discovered it was squished ladybirds.

I bought lots of embroidery thread 25 skeins for ten pounds! will I use it to stitch with or just play with?

The show was well worth going to (aprox 350 stands), as I discovered lots of new shops to buy bits and bobs from. I'll be mentioning some of them.
I bought a few pieces of cloth from a company called eternalmaker. Its worth checking out their site and also their blog. I'll post more about it tomorrow, feeling a little sleepy now............zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Knitting and Stitching show

This week 'The Knitting and Stitching show' starts at Alexandra Palace. It has been described by Twistedthread as " The Definitive and best exhibition in Textiles!"
Its starts on Thursday 8th October to Sunday 11th October.
I have never been before and am very excited about visiting on saturday with my ma.
I hope to see lots of goodies that I can buy!
The following information I found at    fibre2fashion.com

" you can help save the planet at the same time! The economic boom caused us to become wasteful consumers, and now is the
time to undo the damage. Rather than throw away old clothes, it’s time to repair them. Instead of abandoning what’s no longer in fashion, freshen it up with alterations and embellishments. To encourage you to do this, we’ve launched The Swishing Studio (in association with Sewing World Magazine and Brother) at The Knitting and Stitching Shows in London and Harrogate. We invite you to bring clothes you've made or customised to exchange with other sewers in the Swishing Studio. Bring up to 5 garments, and take away the same number. It’s as simple as that!

Junky Styling and other young designers will also be customising and recycling donated clothes throughout the show using Brother sewing machines, so if you need inspiration you can watch them at work. It costs £5 to take part, (or £15 to buy clothes without donating any) and all proceeds go to Bliss, the special care baby charity that supports premature and sick babies and their families.

Whatever your skill and interest, The Knitting and Stitching Show will get your creative juices flowing, it’ll help you learn to be thrifty and help the environment! Learn a new skill in one of over 100 workshops in the Learning Curve, find inspiration from the galleries of leading textile artists, and choose from over 350 companies selling everything from sewing machines to buttons and beads."

I'm even more excited now that I have read the above!!

Cloth Ears

Cloth-ears is a wonderful on line shop that sells the sweetest things. It was started up by Julie, who moved to Whitstable and wanted to make a cosy furnished home. After receiving compliments from friends, she decided to create Cloth-ears as a part time project. It has now turned into a beautiful business with lots of treats for you and I to buy and love!
